Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

There seems to be a great offer on a huge collections of radio shows.

Audio Treasure Chest

My girls love to listen to stories... Does anyone know how the sound quality is of this collection??
Any recommendations?
The special offer ends tonight.

Wow! Thanks for linking & asking about that Stephanie!

That's an AMAZING collection and so tempting at that price! I'd love to know the sound quality as well!! That's such a fantastic price though, with such a stunning collection...I think I'm going to take a chance!

I'm back...after purchasing and having listened to a few of these!

If you sign up for email notifications on their homepage (right sidebar) you will receive a free radio show recording - a 30 minute version of Hans Brinker and the Silver Skates hosted by Roddy McDowell. It's very nice! The kids listened to it over breakfast and instantly asked for more! Apparently, the family offers free audio books/recordings frequently on their site and through their email notifications so it would be a good way to enjoy these and preview them.

The other recorded older radio programs on the Audio Treasure Chest are of the same quality as Hans Brinker, which I would consider to be very good. You can tell that the program is older, in a similar way that you can tell when you're watching an older movie, but the audio is quite good and we've previewed several already this morning, much to our delight! Some of the programs are of very good audio and sound as if they've been read/narrated/recorded recently.

It should be noted that these are audio programs, recorded and adapted from literature and other stories. These are not unabridged audio books.

I can't thank you enough for linking this resource, Stephanie!

You are so quick, Jen! Thank you so much for your efforts.

I didn't see the Hans Brinker link. I will take another look.
I regularly receive emails from "Homeschool Resource of the Day" with great freebie offers. It is from the Erskine family, who I believe to be Catholic. They offer these radio programs...I think

I've listened to their free programs before but I thank you for reminding me of them. Of course, I couldn't pass up the good deal on the collection, either.

My kids really love these kinds of stories... especially my 8yo boy.

Yes. It is the Erskine family.

And...the Hans Brinker link is emailed to you when you confirm that you've signed up to receive their Homeschool Radio Shows email notifications. I don't believe it's listed anywhere on their site. Sorry to have been unclear before.

FYI - I got very excited about this and purchased the program, only to find that (according to my husband who is a huge Old Time Radio buff) many - perhaps even all - of these shows are already available free of charge elsewhere online at archive.org.

Jim Erskine, the owner of HomeschoolRadioShows.com asked me to post this clarification regarding the programs.

Quote:
Please just mention on the thread that 53 of the programs and PDF study resources in our current Audio Treasure Chest collection are our exclusive resources... they are not available anywhere else, and were designed (by us) for the specific use of homeschool families.

Thanks,
Jim Erskine

Thank you Mr. Erskine. Our family has thoroughly enjoyed these radio programs for the last couple of days!! We enjoy listening to them as we do our kitchen chores. It makes for pleasant work time.

Mary, thanks for checking into that. And honestly, as I told my husband, to me it's worth having all the otherwise-free shows compiled together in one place. I don't know that I would have found them on my own, and I'm sure that took some work.

We listened to Hans Brinker last night and really enjoyed it!

I hope to find the Hans Brinker link somewhere. Maybe I even have it somewhere in my laptop.
I also took the plunge!
