Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

have you subscribed yet?

Just putting in a plug for this amazing (and the only one out there) Catholic homeschooling magazine. mater et magistra is published by Margot at Hillside and is an amazing publication with great articles and resources! The magazine usually has a theme (the Spring issue was about Shakespeare and the next issue will cover getting kids off to college and life). You'll recognize the names of many of the volunteer contributors including Cay, MacBeth and me !

Check it out and then subscribe ... I'm betting you'll be impressed!

Yep, Margot will be there ... she'll probably have past issues so you can see what you'll get!

Are you going on Friday? I should be there most of the day ... I've got friends coming up from NC who I'll bring over.

Yes! I will have back copies available. In fact, at the conferences, we give away a certain number for free. After we run out of the free ones, we'll have some on sale.

Thanks for posting this Mary!!! The response to our efforts has been very edifying.
Blessings,
Margot

I recently renewed - I really love and appreciate the encouragement that this magazine gives.

Also, each issue has a unit study and my DD has enjoyed the variety that these bring to our studies.

I just subscribed to this last night. I received a free copy of the Winter 2009 issue at the New England conference this weekend. I loved it! I look forward to reading the spring and summer ones.

If one has ONLY littles (I have one in K and a 2 year old for next year), would this magazine be worth the splurge? When I looked at the website, I was very impressed and thought it would be great for when my kids get much older, but my initial impression was that it wasn't really early-ed oriented. Am I wrong?

I ordered it last night. Someone had given me an old copy and I loved it. Thanks for reminding me.

I only have littles and I've subscribed to this magazine and it's former self, Heart and Mind. The last issue on Shakespeare might not be as applicable to you as other issues, but every issue I read from cover to cover. There is support for the parents who are homeschooling, not just homeschooling ideas. But I do find a wide variety of interest. While some ideas I pocket for later, I'm always satiated when I read my issues.

OH, the magazine is so inspiring and lovely...YES, Philothea, I think you'd enjoy it even if there are only littles. I've been reading and collecting since it was Heart and Mind as well - I have back copies I treasure/guard/lock down every night since 1995 - that's 2 years before I even had a child!!!!

And, Margot has really made it such a visually beautiful magazine to match the uplifting and inspiring articles written by everyone there! Just wanted to say how lovely it looks!

I luckily won a subscription when I attended a webinar over at Homeschool Connections and it has been such a wonderful gift. I will definitely subscribe when my year is up.

Wonderful job, Margot!

Thanks you all for your kind words. I ask you to pray for the magazine as we really struggle with printing costs and so forth. Everyone who works on the magazine donates his/her time, so it's a really special project.

I just received in the mail today the long awaited back issues of Heart and Mind from the former editor. I will bring them to the IHM and post them to the website as soon as I can afterward.
Blessings
Margot
