Can anyone tell me the difference between OMDG and Seton? I know someone using OMDG and her kids are awesome, but it seems that Seton is easier, yet possibly more expensive.
What I want for my 3rd grader is: Catholic, literature rich, math, Latin?, steeped in history, a good writing program, art and music, and some science. I also don't want to reinvent the wheel. In the past I have put together my own curriculum and just don't see the need if this already exists. I tend to be 'unschooly' and think my 3rd grader (and my dh) would appreciate a bit more structure.
What are your thoughts? Can you compare these two programs? Does Seton offer Latin in elementary grades?

imo is MODG in a nutshell. Very, VERY gentle in the early years, and slowly builds to a more rigorous workout by middle school. I most appreciate that the tasks correspond to the developmental stage of the child. You won't see grammar and book reports in the younger years.
I will admit that often people comment on the writing - it's a subtle process in Laura's curriculum, but if a mom follows the steps in the syllabi, and leads the child where she needs to be, it does work.
I don't know much about Seton but I've known friends and women online who use it successfully and happily. It is a different approach, more like a Catholic school classroom experience of former days, as I understand. And MODG does use some Seton books.
