We will be taking the CAT's this year for end of grade testing. I was wondering if it makes any difference to time the test according to the directions? Does it skew the test results... what I mean is are MOST children supposed to finish all of the Vocabulary portion in the alloted time? or does the CAT test not expect MOST children to complete that section in the allotted time?

I'm just wondering as my 9yrold dosen't read very well and I will have to read for her on many sections... so do I use the timer or not bother?

OK I answered my own question

I called Seton and talked to a test counselor and here is the verdict...

The CAT expects the student to be able to answer all the question, in a section, in the time given to do that section...

I also was told that unless my student has an actual IEP they should do every thing themselves and have the timer on...

This means I shouldn't read the comprehension section to my reading delayed child

Oh well, at least I don't have to turn the test in to the state so some day we'll look back on this and laugh
