I mean, for instance, I have a few of the CHC spellers. We used the first few pages....so I don't think I can sell them, they are definitely used...yet I hate just tossing them as 7/8 of the books is unused! But they are taking up shelf space...

Any ideas what to do with them? I would give them away, but I can't pay for shipping if the people aren't local. I have no idea what to do with them.

I would think you could sell them (much reduced rate) or even just "free for shipping" as long as you're very clear that they have been written in and how much of the book was written in.
