Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I remember there being quite a few Captain Jack Aubrey fans here. A friend from our homeschool group just showed me this cookbook - Lobscouse and Spotted Dog. She and her hubby are really into the Master and Commander books and era. She is so excited to attempt a real old-fashioned mincemeat pie from the cookbook for Christmas. Anyway, the book looks great and would be a great source for a culinary rabbit trail. The book also has lots of the scores to the music from the series.

Does it include hardtack with weevils? Yum!
It sounds like a fascinating book, all joking aside.

Ha ha, MacBeth!

Related question: One of my close friends has developed an interest in Revolutionary War-era re-enacting. You can find Civil War stuff all over the place, but I'm having a hard time finding things for her about her chosen time period. If anyone has any info, I'd appreciate it!

Thanks!

We were just watching M & C this morning as I was trying to help the boys understand life on a ship, since we're in the middle of " He went with Magellan." I cut out the gore & suicide since they're young viewers. We're having Soused hog's face for dinner tonight.
