Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I wanted to find out what other Virginians that do not use a lot of worksheet/paperwork do for year end testing/evaluations.

My son is 1st grade and this was the first year we filed an NOI. Thanks!

We use the CAT test from Seton. (We are not enrolled with Seton, BTW. Anyone can buy the test from them.) HTH!

We use the CAT test from Seton too - it is quick and simple and you can take it at home.

I believe you also have the option to have an evaluator in your home (if you are the Aneliese in my TORCH group - there are a few families in the group who use this option, if you post on the OLG list you will be able to get a name).

I use the CAT 5 which I purchase through the Family Learning Organization. It is a far longer and more comprehensive test than the one from Seton. It is by far the cheapest of the longer tests, at $35 per test, I believe.

Sorry, I don't know how to add the hyperlink.

We have used this company for the past 5 years and they have been great.

Good luck.

I'm not really looking for something comprehensive per se, just something to satisfy the state's requirements.

I just didn't know how my ds would do with a test like the CAT since we are a Montessori/CharlotteMason houseshold (almost no daily paperwork).

Hi Marilyn, tis I from TORCH. =D Hope you're feeling well, we've been praying for you.

We did very little on paper the first years, and the first year we tested was 2nd for the boys and K for Maria. They did fine with the CAT from FLO. Our kids needed clear instruction about how much time they had to finish the sections since they worked too slowly if they didn't know there was a time limit. A little practice with bubbling in was also helpful although I thought the practice test was confusing compared to the actual test. The kids were dismal in spelling (as in below the state's requirements) but as the rest of their scores were high, we were fine.

Just my $.02.
