Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are interested in an evaluation tests - kind of like standardized tests.

I had heard a good while back about a test that is similiar to the standardized tests, but actually tells you the strengths and weakness in each subject. (Rather than just the % score in each category.)

For example, the written part may tell you they missed a lot of puncuation problems, the reading may say they struggled with understanding metaphors, and math may show a problem with long division.

Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

For the life of me, I just can't remember the name of the test and I can't find where I put that piece of paper with the information on it orwho sent it to me....

The CAT tests have that - you can order them as just the summary or the whole thing. Kolbe will sell the test to homeschoolers (whether you are with them or not). They should be able to give you more information about the tests and how to order the fuller one. This is what we have used. Seton uses the CAT as well, but only the summary form.

Oops, I re-read your post and while the CAT gives more detail if you order the right version - I'm not sure if it breaks things down quite like that.

Martha,

Perhaps you mean the PASS Test? I've heard it mentioned though I have never used it.   It is targeted to homeschoolers.   I don't know if it breaks down results or not.

We use the Stanford Achievement Test which is what Kolbe used to use.   It did break down scores into categories which was quite helpful. I think they stopped allowing schools to distribute them to homeschoolers??? but I don't remember the exact details.   We actually haven't taken a standardized test since Kolbe stopped giving out the SATs.

Reviving this thread...has anyone used PASS or worked with Hewitt?

Love,
