Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

In the "A few of my favorite things" thread, several of you mentioned your all in one printer, copier, scanner. We are going to begin shopping around for one soon so I'd like to know what do you have.

What features do you like about yours?

What should I be aware of when shopping?

What should I avoid?

What brands are better?

Where did you buy yours?

I don't know if it matters but we are Mac users.

Thanks,

Natalia

We don't have a Mac, so I'm not sure if there's a difference in the printers you can get.

We have an all-in-one HP Officejet. My big issues:
  • Make sure that the copier function has a "black" copy button and a "color" copy button. Our first printer didn't, and to make a grey scale copy of a color page, I had to scan in the page, edit it once on the computer in order to make it b&w, and then print it. It was a real pain.

  • Printouts from the HP inkjets smudge if they get wet (esp. on photo paper). When we bought it, I assumed all inkjets were like this. I recently found out that it's only the HPs.

We found the cheapest prices on all printers to be at Sam's.

I loved mine . . . until it suddenly died one day. I still don't know why it went on the fritz. It may be that my toddler walked up and pressed all the buttons at once and locked it up. I think I will buy the same brand again, unless others who report here seem to have problems with HP all-in-ones. Mine was an HP 2110xi.

Mine is an HP psc 2410 photosmart all-in-one. I love it! It's a printer, fax, copier, scanner and it does excellent photo-quality pictures.

Mine is an HP officejet 6110 all-in-one. It does all of the above in Elizabeth's except I haven't tried photos yet. It's invaluable in our home school. $125 on ebay, happy shopping!

I agree, HP seems to have the best units right now. Lexmark has been HORRIBLE for us.

No matter what you buy, realize that all of the home office 'all in ones' are really, sad to say, disposable units. They cannot be repaired for what a new one can be purchased for and they really don't last for much more than a year.

We did find a rebate deal once at office depot that beat Sam's, but that is rare.
