Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I have waited forever and a day for Lissa to write this post.

I can't seem to get a direct link but it's today's entry at her blog http://www.melissawiley.net.

I plan to print copies of it to carry in my book bag and hand out to friends. I plan to have everyone from my dh and dc on up read it. I plan to read it often.    Lissa will be thrilled to know that I plan to have my teacher-aunt (remember her?) read it.

I find that people *outside our box* don't want to read a book on hsing. They want to know in short, simple terms why, in heaven's name, we do it.

I know Lissa posted from her heart and, in so doing, blessed mine tremendously.

Thank you, Lissa.

The time management part really spoke to me. I agree with her wholeheartedly.

Gosh, thanks, Cay & everybody. I originally wrote that post for my private family site, hoping to assuage the concerns of a certain relative. (If it worked, I never heard about it.) I wasn't sure if it would be a good post to share with a larger audience or not, but I decided to go for it. I'm stunned—this piece has gotten a bigger response than any other blog entry I've written. I guess there are a lot of us in this position, with friends and/or family who think we're nuts to be "adding to our load" by homeschooling. I just keep telling them that homeschooling is the thing that makes the load fun to carry.

Anyway, thanks for all the encouraging feedback. I appreciate it!

EXCELLENT insight, and what a blessing it was! I too am going to print it out and put it in my homeschooling encouragement section in my Inspiration Notebook!

Ooh thank you so much for that Lissa! It just sings to me of the JOY I feel homeschooling my children and how SORRY I feel for those that think that WE take on too much...yikes! I can't get enough of what we do...I may have bad days, but a bad day here is sooo much better than a good day anywhere else...cuz...I am with my lovely children and they are with me...I am the one being homeschooled ..and I LOVE it!

God Bless you!

This is a great one to print and save. A few years ago I was trying to convince a Catholic mother she could continue to homeschool after her dd's cancer became terminal. What a blessing it would be I thought, for those siblings to be a part of the family all day long, at the clinic, in the hospital, at home helping their mom and being with their sister in her last weeks. Next time I can just hand out Lissa's article!

Cay,thank you for posting Melissa's blog link. I find it inspiring to read articulate expressions of why we homeschool, particularly when I am so inarticulate!

I will send copies to family and keep a copy in my encouragement binder.

Thank you Melissa for sharing this on your blog. I also enjoyed reading the rest of the articles there!
