Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

LOL

I started on this homeschooling journey with the intention using the "Well-Trained Mind" philosophy of teaching. Slowly, I've crossed out reference after reference that the book suggested until I am now down to using good literature, notebooking discs, encyclopedias and whatever else my son finds interesting at the library. The only subject we are using a text on is Math (Saxon 8/7) and that is because he loves math.

Wow! How did this happen? Am I an unschooler? Gasp! LOL

What path has your homeschool journey taken?

LOL!
I am not sure how to describe our homeschooling path, except that it's had more twists and turns than a roller coaster and been just as much fun! And don't even ask me to describe where we are right now because I cannot find a term that fits us! All I know is it is right where we want to be!

I would definitely say ours has been roller coaster-ishy....actually I would love to hear from the homeschool mom (or dad) who's homeschool journey has been on a "straight" path. No twists, no turns, not even a bump. Does such a thing exist???

Yes I would agree about the twists and turns of a roller-coaster..or sitting in the drivers seat with my eyes closed!I'm the kind of mum who really really likes to be organised! This year I have been "forced" to unschool so many times its getting ridiculous, and i'm glad I don't have to count school days. The number of learning days would be pretty current with how much of the year has gone by but it would be so nice to be able to do what I plan um just occasionally! This last term we had lots of sickness, then dh is out of work, then my mother was going to visit and will now reschedule but still wants to come. Oh yes and the two years previous to this one were just as "spontaneous". I would love to now how others cope with their expectations for their homeschooling not being realised, letting go etc I so need to learn this
