Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Home Educator's Tutor

This is called the Home Educator's Tutor. I read a message on the Literature Alive email list from somone who described this magazine, and recommended it. I hadn't heard of it, so wanted to share with all of you!

It looks wonderful! I decided to subscribe for this year, and will see how we like it, and then decide for further years.

IF you want to subscribe, and want to begin with the December issue (it's quarterly), then you need to sign up by today to receive the December issue.

I'll let you know how I like it after I recieve my first one.

On their website, they have ADDITIONAL RESOURCES that will change every quarter. These resources are FREE, so even if you decide not to subscribe to this magazine, you can always take advantage of their free additional resources every month.

Just a FYI!

I was going to mention this today too! I got a sample copy (the September one) and they sent a couple of extras -- anyone who'd like to see it, pm me and I'll send out the two to the first couple of folks.

It's a beautiful magazine -- comes with a CD full of stuff. Goes thru basically a term's worth of info CM style -- art, music, copywork, history, science....

I'm pretty impressed with it -- enough where I think I'll subscribe (which I never do)

Just so you know Tracy and someone else got the two extra copies I had -- I really think this looks like a great resource. They even 3-hole punched the magazine so you can save to a binder!

Blessings all!

Can anyone tell me if this magazine would be suitable for older (high school) students, or is it geared more to the younger ones?

I'm having a hard time getting through to things on the internet this week.

Thanks!

Caryn

Caryn,

It's definitely for 9 and up. They have wonderful passages to be read, copywork examples (including scripture passages in Latin), art and music study, etc. It's a term's worth of CM (without history, science or math) coursework. The topics covered are: outdoor (nature notes and stories with some games), character (first issue focused on humility), fine arts and literature.

The magazine is b/w with color plates for the picture study (first issue does a picture study on Bougeureau).

Each issue is 3-hole-punched so you can keep them in a binder.

Do this help?

Thanks, Mary--yes, that does help. I especially like the idea of the character study, that is a nice feature.

And thanks to Tracy for telling us about this.

Any subscribers? I subscribed in January and have yet to receive anything - just wondered if anyone else was having problems.

There's a poll there (on the left) (I have link above in the original message) on their website asking when you prefer for the newsletter to come out. It says to keep the same which is June, September, December, March, or whether you'd prefer to get it a month earlier.

I voted that I prefer a month earlier.

But it looks like this current issue is due out in March. I'm not sure when in March. So I would assume we'd get it this month sometime.

When anyone gets it, please update us that you've gotten it, OK???
