Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

One of the hats I wear in addition to very novice homeschool Mom is that of children's librarian. It looks like I may be getting a new assignment and I am talking up the idea and hoping it will be in a public library branch where the manager is interested in reaching out to the area homeschool community. The members of this forum are an unending source of suggestion and inspiration. I would love to hear your thoughts on interesting, fun etc. programs your library may have done of particular interest to homeschool families and/or thoughts you have for programs you would like to see offered in a public library setting.

Thank you,
Kate

For twelve years we have been going to storyhour/craft time for 3 to 5 year olds and have loved it. It would be nice to have a book club or something similar for 8 to 12 year olds. Students could share the general outline of a book they enjoyed. They could present a review in "book report" form and say why they liked it. We also have attended a knitting class for a couple of years and the kids really liked that. Its good to offer something during the school day to homeschoolers. I would rather attend activities in the morning than in the late afternoon to accommodate public school schedules.

I recently finished reading Deconstructing Penguins and really like their idea of a parent/child reading group.
