I am stewing about what to do next year with my kiddos-5 and 10. It is hard to put them both together but I am working on it
My creative juices have hit an end on this issue. What different ways can we teach our kids about a topic? What types of projects, presentations, etc. can we do where they will learn and it will be different every once in a a while.
For example:
books
workbooks
videos
crafts
website
field trips
co-op classes
circle time

Now, I am done. Did I miss anything??

I think that how you teach will in part depend on you and the kids. I have some that love hands-on stuff, so for them, I use more lapbooks, crafts, models. My oldest is a bookworm, so some of those hands-on things are optional for him but he reads more on a subject than the other boys.

to your general list I'd add
lapbooks/scrapbooks
audio -- books on tape/cd; music (from time period/country)
hands-on components (everything from science kits to cut-and-assemble kits and paper crafts)

One thing that has helped me is reading this wonderful book, Discover Your Child's Learning Style It opened my eyes to all of our family, including my husband and myself, and has helped me to understand why we are the way we are, and how we all best learn. It's been helpful in choosing curriculum for years now!
