Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Cay:

This is a wonderful idea -- thanks for suggesting !

We have spent the morning, going thruough EVERYTHING, gettings bags and boxes full of stuff to donate at our local Wal-mart -- they're shipping it down every few days.

I love this idea and will have my littles put them together this week....

Blessings!

Thanks, Cay. This is a great idea...I've passed the link to all my family. You might have more visitors to your blog...

I heard a report on CCN night before last about the Catholic schools in the N.O. archdiocese. They had a big meeting of teachers and parents and the superintendant of Catholic schools. They were talking about the plans for reopening, relocating temporarily to undamaged schools with temp structures, doubling schools up with split schedules of school days, going to some on-line classes, etc.

"Father Maestri also advised parents they could seek home-schooling materials from the state education department. In the case of schools that may be closed only for a month, Father Maestri said that might be an excellent option."

Link to recovery plan

I'm wondering how it might be possible to help get info on Catholic curriuculum and support resources like the Catholic homeschool lists to people who choose this option.

I was emailed about this last week. I was told that there were school lobbies full of parents wanting to get their kids into the Catholic schools. Someone wrote that these parents consider Catholic education to be like the air their breath and the water they drink. Word was sent to a hser leader in Lafayette, La.

I hope the leaders in Lafayette were able to go and speak to these parents in the school.

We're working on it as you write! Requests are coming in and help is being directed as they come. Both seekers and those who can provide answers can register to find each other at Catholic Homeschoolers Helping. It strikes me that God can bring great good out of a bad situation. Wouldn't it be a beautiful witness to the spirit of resurrection if Louisiana became the strongest Catholic homeschooling state in the country?
