Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

How about birds? You could make homemade birdfeeders in the shape of hearts and hang them from a tree on St. Valentine's Day. Cut out heart shapes from cardboard, "paint" them with a paste made of rice flour, water, and confectioners sugar and then cover with bird seed, allow to dry. Oh - do poke a hole and thread ribbon before the painting and seeding - much messier affair after the fact. Have a nice guidebook on hand to identify feathered friends. Lots you could do on birds.

Or snowflakes?

Animal tracks? My daughter bought herself the "Encyclopedia of Tracks and Scat" at a local bookstore she loves it! Here
it is on Amazon.

Or maybe winter astronomy?

Or all things icy--snow, sleet, hail, icicles, glaciers, icebergs, arctic animals...would be more research, less hands on...but lots of fun.
