From the mouth of babes...
dd 10 "w can continue our game after school tomorrow"

ds 8 - "We don't do SCHOOL - we do REAL LEARNING"

Well our "real learning" so far

- lovely first day of learning with German schultute filled with beeswax crayons, Lyra pencils, watercolor pencils and Trader Joe treats. First day full of poetry and art with Math and Latin and a great read aloud (Snow Treasure) thrown in. Also a start made on our State notebooks

but after that... real learning from

- broken refrigerator
- mom with mastitis
- mom with emergency medical visits twice because of eye problems
- dad stressed with his busiest weeks of the year
- broken tv and vcr
- dishwasher breaking down
- orthodontist appointment
- baby well visit

We did spend a day reading about Mother Teresa - a wonderful learning experience for everyone. Today we finally made our chai for Mother Teresa day - and our Blueberry coffee cake to celebrate learning about Maine!!

But - I have seen the love and care of my dc for their 8 week old baby brother, I know they can take care of laundry and mop the kitchen floor. And they all love reading - which is what we do when mom is too ill for anything else.
