Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Have any of you found any good, free, computer games or websites that would be fun for a three-year old? I want to have something slightly interactive on hand for sick days or times when I'm at the end of my rope. We don't have TV and I'm reluctant to go the DVD route. I was hoping to find something at least a bit interactive and save it as something really fun and novel for desperate times.

I'm also open to hearing that this is a terrible idea or non-screen alternatives.

Thanks!

Susan

I just found this site and I love it! It isn't like anything else I've ever seen. Lovely music, pretty scenes. Sweet pictures...
Orsinal games

ETA: check out especially the game called "High Delivery" where you use a fan to gently guide a balloon, collecting flowers that fall from the sky, and deliver them to heaven's gate. And make sure your speakers are on for the music. Beautiful game!!

EWTN Kids site

Game GooSome may be more advanced but good for phonics and letters. There are other funny ones too just poke around a bit.

Gamearium Links to some other places but still a good start

Literacy Center (letters, colors, and numbers)

Sprout

Story Place This site does a story then as an online activity and one to print out and do.

Tivo Kids My 3 1/2 loves this site!

UpToTenClick on Boowa and Kwala to get to 0-6 stuff. You can even change the language should you feel the desire :)

My son of course likes Nick Jr too. He is 3 1/2 and does all of these. Oh one more

Bemboszoo I just saw the book at the library too yesterday and almost picked it up.

We hardly ever let the kids watch tv, but i do allow computer time. I haven't decided yet what our limits should be, but I do know it's addictive and needs to be limited. I'm thinking maybe 10 minutes a day for my almost 3 year old and 20 minutes for the almost 5 year old? What do you think?

Besides those listed above my kids like

We don't have a tv, but I admit we give in to our computer addictions . . . see, here I am now! I do try to limit everyone, not least because there's always a line for the computer, with my two older kids always waiting to write or research something.

How long I let the littles play depends on how long I need them to be busy (ok, I am admitting that the computer is an electronic babysitter in my house, so if I ever appear to try to take the moral high ground on any issue, please remind me of this!).

I will second the votes for both Orsinal and Starfall. My 3yo also likes to play the "Fun Match" game at Funbrain. It's the only game there that she can do without adult assistance, but she's gotten pretty good at it, I have to say!

Pax,

Sally
