Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone ever tried to copy/do A Sample Term from More Charlotte Mason Education by Catherine Levison??? I'm really intrigued by it and wondered who has ever tried to replicate a *pure* (for lack of a better word) CM term? I know alot of the books are OOP, but I also know they can be found through ILL and through book sellers if one is diligent. TIA for any responses. I have been slowly re-reading through all my CM books including the 6-Volume set and she just really knew/knows what she was talking about and that's why I'm always so drawn to her style of teaching if I tend to stray. Well enough rambling , any posts will be appreciated. God Bless.

Hi Meredith,

It's been a long time since I looked at the book you mentioned and I don't have it on my shelf so I can't address it directly. I can tell you that having looked at PNEU/PUS (Charlotte Mason schools)schedules spanning from Charlotte Mason's time until the 1960's, that the curriculum changed every year. If you aren't already familiar with Mater Amabilis you might want to check it out. It's a free online Catholic Charlotte Mason curriculum. So far we have levels 1 through 4 available. Each level is broken down into 3 terms. Since we used the CM programmes as a model we think it's pretty close to what a true CM programme would look like. All that to say you certainly could DO a sample CM term using the books from that time but that it might largely be a lesson in what children of Victorian England were learning and not something that would really give you a sense of how CM is applied today.

Right there with you Meredith! You also might want to check out FCL and the Mater Amabilis Teacher Training Forum.

God bless!

Michelle, sorry I've been a day or so respoding back here. I've been savoring and taking in all that your beautiful site has to offer for us *modern day* CCMers. You and Kathryn have done just a super job of putting together the Mater Ambilis curriculum and I will be referring back to it time and again I am sure.

A question I do have (and let me know if you'd rather PM on this or not) how does the History text This Country of Ours compare to say Pioneers and Patriots, or From Sea to Shining Sea?? I didn't really get a chance yet to look over the online description/overview and wondered if you could compare them or let me know what I might miss if I didn't use a history *text* per se. TIA and thank you for your thought and thourough response.
