Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I love his books, the kids are fascinated by his books, surely someone somewhere has used these in unit sutdies?

Anyone care to help point the way?

Well, I used Cathedral in our Sacred Architecture unit, Ship in our sailing unit, Pyramid in our Egyptian unit, and both City and Rome Antics during our Rome unit.
We own, but have not yet used Mill and Mosque.
We LOVE David Macaulay!

ETA:How could I forget we used Castle during our Medieval unit!

We used his DVD's available from Netflix. The zoom kids have a challenge at the end of the DVD...they make a dome out of taped newspaper rolls on the Dome DVD...make a tunnel through sand using a few simple tools on the tunnels DVD....etc My children loved these!

HTH!

God love you,

Specifically Theresa and Wonderboy did this study!

There is also a great architecture unit study in the most recent Heart and Mind magazine (spring 07). It uses Building Big, Castles, Pyramid, City, Cathedral, and Unbuilding as part of the resources. This website was developed to go along with the unit.

We've just discovered the Building BIG (PBS Series) which Donna Marie mentioned. They are great. The website has lots of educational resources which would be a great start for a unit study. After seeing this series and reading Deborah Hopkinson's Sky Boys I'm working on a skyscraper unit study so maybe will have something to post in a month or so.

Macaulay's Angelo is one of the books in FIAR Volume 4 so you can get a unit study there.
