I'm almost done with the book Real Learning and I just love it! One of the great things I picked up was the daily teatime. We've tried this before but it always gets pushed aside after a few times. This time I'm more committed to it since my kids are older and really ready for this I think (at least the 2 older ones are).
Do you do it every day or a set day each week? I was thinking to do it 3x per week-MWF since Tues and Thurs are typically our playdate/field trip days.
My 5 yr old DD received a wonderful tea set from a perfect stranger last year that we use and it's very special. We were at a meeting at a church and some ladies were coming out of an apparent tea when my DD told one of the ladies that her tea set she was carrying on a tray was "very beautiful." The lady asked her if she liked tea parties and my DD nodded her head like crazy and starting telling her all about her last tea party. LOL
The lady said she received this tea set from a woman when she was very young and she was just waiting for the chance to pass it on to another little girl. And she gave it to my DD!  Such a wonderful gift!
Anyway, just looking for some ideas about what you do to make your teatime special.

Oh that IS special! We have done it several ways, once a week, every day, for special occasions, etc. What we do changes with our "season" in life. When the weather is nice, I have a little tea set that came with a carrying caddy that we take outside and have tea under the hemlock tree.
You know, our teas are always special. Sometimes we make elaborate treats, sometimes we just scrounge for something. We vary the types of teas, and what we do. It is ALWAYS special.

We do it a lot more in the Fall/Winter time. Couple times a week. but then we'll go for several weeks without it. Sometimes it has a "theme" related to FIAR, or a liturgical day. Other times it's to practice formal manners.
In the summer, we do it on the deck or out under a tree.

Ann, we do "teatime" every Thursday, as part of our weekly routine.
We don't always have "tea" - often it is milk or cocoa or lemonade (warm vanilla milk has been a huge hit). I have three boys so it's not fancy or girly; our tea "set" is a brown and beige pinecone motif, quite sturdy and rustic (you can see it in this post). We always have a special treat to eat, usually something I've baked or a goodie from the bakery.
On Thursdays we read the Gospel for the coming Sunday's Mass and discuss or perhaps do a craft. If there is a feast day, holiday or if we're reading a special book, we incorporate that, too. Sometimes we stress manners, but often it's just an extra special snack time. 
Tomorrow our theme is Pentecost - I have a craft for the boys and I'm making cupcakes.

We're having Tea this afternoon!! We usually focus on a theme, like our Monday's With Mary or for us this past school year we did Shakespeare for Teatime, today we will be talking about Pentcost as Dawn is as well!!
Hope that gives you some ideas! And sometimes we just have tea for the sake of having tea!!

I gave Puggle warm vanilla milk for afternoon tea today—it was a hit:-) I had seen you mention this on your blog, but had forgotten it. This was timely as the weather is getting chilly enough that I wanted to give him a hot drink when I have my cuppa (we're Australian, every afternoon is afternoon tea time:-) )

Oh, I love this thread! We've actually only had teatime once . The kids did enjoy it, and they are definitely not the "tea" type of kids ( I think they all had hot chocolate). It's great to read all the different teatime ideas! We will definitely be doing this more often.

What lovely ideas! I used to share tea with my mother growing up - we'd have a little cup of tea and a snack or light lunch. When I got older, we shared late night teas and long talks.
After Brian and I got married, I had no one to take tea with - he wasn't into it. Until we moved to England and then we had a proper tea in the evening. I love to plan special cream teas for various occasions, especially company.
I remember either reading or hearing that Rachel Ashwell takes her daughter a cup of tea each evening before bed with a love note. If ever we have a home where the girls can have bedside tables, I'd love to do that with them. What a precious memory! Until then, we'll take tea at the table.
I have a small collection of teapots - my first one was bought on my honeymoon in Bermuda. Our most-used pot has pretty roses and gold trim. I also collect mis-matched tea cups, which I feel is so charming. Each of us gets a favorite cup. And guests seem to like getting their own special teacup, too!
Uh-oh... I feel another carnival coming on!

Thanks for the ideas everyone. I love the pinecone tea set and my son noticed it too. I think I'm going to have him help me find a second set that he likes so we can alternate sets for the kids.
I got a funky frog tea pot as a gift years ago and this will be a great excuse to actually use it!
