If I knew how to create a meme and "tag" some of my favorite bloggers, I would...but I'm a still a novice blogger!
I was just curious what summer plans are being made here at 4Real. I listed mine here. What are yours?

I am going to lose 25 pounds if it kills me - or if my family kills me as I get to be somewhat obsessive on a diet!
I am going to read to my children every day including the neighbor kids because I think they'll really enjoy it!
I want to do more handson art work.
I am going to get all my laundry caught up and keep it caught up all summer!
I am going to sew again!!

READY? I am taking the kids on a cross country trip for 2 months (missing you, of course )........one week of 4RLer camping in CA (hopefully with you, too .......and then, the kids are performing in Cinderella and Beauty and the Beast in summer theater on our return, which I hope YOU will attend . Where is the emoticon for WHEW!?
Oh, but yOU knew that already, didn't you? Did you only want people to answer who you did not already know about???
Theresa..........am I on your way to or from Alaska? How long are you staying there? Are you checking it out to see if you are moving there?
Elena? I think I like your summer more than mine......more relaxing
Fun question, Shawna!

Going to try to be more "present" to my kids. Relax and play with them more. Work on math each day with ds. Have some one on one time with each of them-- a week for dd while ds is at Nature Camp and one for ds while dd goes to VBS with a freind(if we can get up and ready in time . Swim in our pool-invite some friends over to play. Maybe go to CT to see my grandmother who is in the nursing home on hospice. Ds wants to see her before her funeral--such a sweet and sensitive guy. Work on my diet and exercising. Obedience classes for the dog--since all the kid activities are done(thank goodness!) til the fall. Play with our homeschool group.
It looks busy, but it shouldn't be

Our summer will be pretty low key, with the dc going to summer camps at various times, playing baseball, hopefully we'll get some local camping in. I also am going to work somewhat intensively with my ds on phonics skills.
The trips to Alaska and California sound fantastic! We hope to get up to Lake Michigan late in the summer for at least a long weekend. Also looking forward to my brother moving his family up to our area (Indiana) from Atlanta. He's lived there for the past 20 years,so we haven't gotten together much. The kids can't wait to spend time with their cousins!
I'm also in a Women of Grace (Johnette Benkevic) group at a nearby parish, and it goes all summer. I like Elena's idea of doing more art projects with the kids (nature study too, I hope) And then there's the usual getting ready for next
school year stuff...

We are flying out this trip.
Definitely checking it out to move there. We know we want to end up in Alaska, just not sure about Kodiak, yet.
Dh got a job and is there already and we will be spendng the summer with him. Then the kids and I will come back to NC for dd to finish her last year at her high school(this is definitely the last child of mine going to public school! Very inconvenient!LOL!)and then we all go up for good next summer after her graduation. By then we should know if Kodiak is right for us or if we need to look elsewhere in Alaska. Whew!
When we do move up there next year, we will be driving. Hopefully we can see some of you western folks. Definitely will be passing through Denver...

Hopefully moving! :) Lots of swimming time, the kids are on a local swim team. Nature studies and hikes, biking, camping, meeting up with friends more, just relaxing more, and like someone else said, being more present to my kids.

Swim team practice every morning at the pool, followed by a few hours of fun swimming. (Swim team always provides built-in time for visiting with Mary Chris. )
Lots of down time in the afternoons for kids to play with neighborhood friends and read.
Get back into family read alouds just for fun. (They've almost all been related to our history studies this year. They've been great, but definitely related to our schooling.)
The release of the 7th Harry Potter book!
Seeing the 5th Harry Potter movie when it comes out.
A visit from dh's brother and family from AZ.
A week at the Outer Banks with my entire family. (29 of us!)
A weekend camping trip to a lake in the hills of Southwestern Virginia.
A trip to Hersheypark in PA. (Again - it's our 3rd year and we love it.)
Nature camp for 4 of the girls. (It's only half days for a week each.) Oldest is a junior counselor for 7yo's camp. Two other girls attend the week for 9-11 yo's. We've been participating in this for 4 previous summers, and it's a big highlight for the kids. This summer they're focusing on the Jamestown anniversary as the theme.
Celebrate most of our birthdays - 3 of the girls and dh's and mine. And our 14th anniversary. (Dh and I are considering splurging on tickets to Phantom of the Opera for that. )
So, when do I fit in the sewing I've been wanting to do (and teaching the older girls) and catching up on labeling photos and getting them in albums???

Right now, we're deep into baseball, bridging a girl scout, and practicing for an upcoming piano recital.
After we get visitors from California (you know who you are ), we'll be visiting my parents for their 50th anniversary.
And when we return, we'll be schooling ... even heavy-duty schooling. We take breaks at odd times of the year, sometimes because I just had a baby or was ill, often we take an extended break from the beginning of Advent right through the season and then again on Holy week until the week following Easter week. And we're taking a two week break right now! It's too beautiful outside.
I think we'll be reading Tolkein, CS Lewis, and Arthur Ransom.
We'll study Creation, Mesopotamia, and Ancient Egypt in world history and up to and including the Revolutionary War in American history.
For science, we'll work on our garden and study birds.
We'll catch ourselves up on math, keep forging ahead in spelling, Latin, and grammar, and just continue our catechism studies using St. Patrick's Summer at least once a week.
We might take a month off of regular school to study Shakespeare. I like to give Shakespeare a time of his own. We did this two summers ago and really enjoyed it. I also took Shakespeare in college as my only summer session class one year. It was a dreamy semester!
Personally, I'd like to simplify what we have so that there's just not so darn much of it! We're renovating our 70's style house to suit a large family as much as our finances and time allows. But I'm in desperate need of a laundry room. I'll readily go into debt for that.
So those are our plans this summer. They sound awfully boring compared to all of yours!

I told my kids last week that this was going to be the summer of swimming, sewing and science experiments. Hopefully lots of read alouds and playing, too. Oh, and eating lots of ice cream!

This is our last summer in Japan so i want to make the most of it and do as many things off base as we can afford to. Lots of swimming and park days for sure. More playdates as her friends go to ps and will be off for the summer.

Plans for this summer:
Go to Ireland -- it's coming up fast.
Football camp and season for 14 year old
Camping up north (maybe see you there, Shawna )
Visit my parents in Alaska either in mid summer or early fall.
Euclid with son home from college, and daughter and maybe 14yo son.
Story club
Keep up with Latin, Greek, some math drills, start up on on fall schedule in August if possible.
Work on literacy and FIAR=type themes with littlies, to get into the habit for fall.
Nature walks or hikes several times a week, wherever we are, with camera! I love my camera.
Three birthdays this June.
Lots of stuff to work on outside -- husband is resurfacing the deck, the kids and I need to make a firebreak around our house, logs to stack as fall gets here.
A very modest garden -- about on the scale of yours, Shawna -- tomatoes, lettuce and some kind of squash. Maybe some kind of herb. Have to start somewhere, and figure out how hard it's going to be to keep the local wildlife away from it.
Reorganize curriculum closet; plan for next year's homeschool.
OH, and get a season's pass for the local lake. Aidan and Kieron loved it there last year when we went to meet a friend there, but it was 17$ to get the car and 4 people in there. Yikes!
I have to lose about 10 pounds, but mostly, get into some healthier food habits. I say that every spring!
Enjoy my family: play games, walk, talk, make memories.

A couple trips. San Diego for a few days in June. Washington DC for a week in July.
Lots of swimming at the neighborhood pool. Lots of evenings at the baseball fields. And hopefully lots of hanging out with my 4 Real/IRL friends.

Also, my sister is planning to take the kids for a week to do various day-trips....we're calling it,

Towards the end of summer we'll be taking a 4 days and heading to the beach to celebrate dh's 40th birthday!
