Dear friends,

I'm asking Saint Joseph prayers again (maybe also St. Rita . . . ) for the sale of our house in Memphis, and for wisdom and good judgment as we go this week to look at houses in NC. I'm taking a break from giving our house one more thorough cleaning before we pack up to leave -- our realtor is holding an open house on Sunday, and we're hoping we'll get a few more showings during the week while we're gone. We've had a small but steady stream already, which I guess is good news . . . would be better news if one of those people actually wanted to live here!

The other house for sale on our street just got an offer, so I'm hoping our turn will come quickly. And I hope we'll be level-headed enough to recognize the house God intends for us when we see it.

Thanks so much. Meanwhile I have been reading through and praying just now for all intentions posted here. I don't always add my note to a thread, but I pray daily for you all.

Edited to add: We could also use safe-travel prayers for our two oldest children and ourselves, and prayers for our 5- and 4yos who are staying with grandmothers this week while we're gone.

Thank you all SO MUCH for your prayers! We're just back tonight after five days in NC, during which we found a house we love, put a contract on it, and had it inspected . . . we're due to close the week of July 21, so I'm asking for yet more prayers that all goes smoothly.

Meanwhile, we have not sold our house here yet. We've dropped the price and are redoubling our prayers. By the goodness of God we do have some resources which will enable us to buy the new house without having sold this one, but it would sure help to have things taken care of on this end.

We have reason meanwhile to be very thankful: The new house (well, it isn't new, it's pretty old and not without its "issues") really is our Friendly Gables. It's perfect for our family and then some. The town we'll be living in is wonderful and friendly. And the best part of all -- I hadn't even thought that this town HAD a Catholic church, and that we'd be commuting a half hour to Belmont any time we wanted to go to any Mass. Ok, I could deal with that, people drive farther, blah blah blah, but still. So then we see that there IS a Catholic church. OK, well, so it's probably tiny, probably doesn't have a fulltime priest, probably gets sent whatever wobbly 70s Father they happen to have floating around . . . so we go to Mass, and the priest turns out to be young (ordained 5 years), energetic, orthodox, teaches a Latin class for homeschoolers . . . On the way into daily Mass on Thursday I had been asking God in my heart for some kind of sign that everything was really going to be all right with this move, and then I was ashamed of myself for asking for a sign, because I should just KNOW that it's going to be all right -- and then we went into church, and this Mass was just beautifully done. Ka-pow, went the lightning bolt . . .

Anyway, thank you all again so much for your prayers, past, present and future as we creak into action here on the moving front.
