Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I recently purchased some of the collections from Heritage History and I am planning on using a number of their texts in our upcoming school year. I was wondering if anyone had any brilliant ideas for making it more obvious when the reader needs to stop at a point that isn't the end of a chapter. The only thing that has occurred to me is to have my child page forward the 4 or 6 pages, highlight the top line with the e-reader, page back, then read. Is that the best way to handle it or does someone have a better suggestion?

Thanks!
Amber

Could you set a time limit instead of a page number? I do think that your idea is brilliant though. BTW, I love Heritage History. I bought their CD's at a conference and won a free Kindle Fire from them!

I am hesitant to go by time with this child because she is one who reads quickly in great gulps. I want to encourage her to slow down, reflect, and notice more of the details. I have tried both pages and time, and it seems assigning pages works better for this particular issue. But thanks for your suggestion and congrats for winning the Kindle Fire!!

I just marked the end of each selection with a simple "stop" note. It also marked the note number, so at the end of the first reading it says "1". You would have to click on it to see the actual note. She could quickly see what week she had completed if doing just one reading per week.

It took a bit to do a full book (maybe and hour?), so if you are planning on segmenting several books and wanted to save time I think your original idea would work just as well.

I love Heritage History too - I just recently found them on CurrClick! Had to go to their website and buy a CD.

I print out for my kiddos to read.
But, I have a laser printer and comb binder so it is not cost prohibitive for me to do so. Their pdf files are really nicely formatted.
