Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Well, after using my homemade planner this year, I have been largely but not completely satisfied. This year I used a a slightly altered version of a template from Tanglewood which I already had but printed out 55 copies plus monthly and yearly calendar sheets and bound it with my proclick. It worked pretty well, and if I had a "normal" kid, I might leave it at that. However, I add in subjects (SLT, social skills, etc.) that other people don't and I wanted to have enough slots for everything. I also wanted to alter the "non-slot" with areas for catechetical focus, PE, etc. so this year I made my own template. It's not nearly as pretty, but it's more functional. Maybe I'll learn how to make it pretty for 2012/2013!

For those who care, each week is a two page spread. Page 1 has an rectangular array of boxes whose first column is the subjects (Religion, L Arts, SLT, Math, Science, History/Social Studies, Art/FM*, Social Skills, Other). Page 2 has areas (no boxes here) for Habit, Prayer, Catechetical Focus/Liturgical Season, Geography, PE, Music, Memory focus, Scout work, Poetry resource, and a special area for noting whether my student played inside/outside, went on a nature work, did art/music/etc on a given day. This is my take on Tanglewood's planner.

*Fine Motor includes knots. handwriting, copywork, etc.

Anyway, I am happy with it except for lack of the pretty flourishes.

In Christ,
Deborah

Deborah,
Your planner sounds so lovely!! I love how you've taken a basic idea (Tanglewood planner) and worked it to fit your needs! Sounds utterly delightful to me!!!!!

I'm all about pretty, too!

I have found that a pretty border can be nice, so check out the borders that you can use in most document programs. And...sometimes I just drag in a piece of copyright free clip-art and place it on a corner of the lesson plans. It can really help!! It doesn't have to be color at all...in fact, I think b/w looks really nice!!

My favorite place for copyright free images - just drag and drop - vintage images at the Graphics Fairy!! Hope you enjoy!

Jen,

Thanks for link! I'll see about using those images for my 2012/2013 planner since the 2011/2012 is all done.

Actually, I do have some clip art from the Nippert folks now I think of it.....
Maybe I can manage to use a couple of those images.....

Thank you!

In Christ,
