Does your responsible pre-teen, early teen have a calendar/planner such as they would in traditional school? I'm thinking my daughter needs one but I'm not sure what would work exactly. When she was in school, she had her assignment book. I think that might be something what I'm looking for so she can keep track of her assignments from her homeschool classes, her lessons here at home, her ballet schedule, projects she's working on, extra chores she might do that she gets paid extra for etc. She's old enough and responsible enough that she could get more done and stop forgetting things if she had a planner we could make work. Any ideas?
ETA: I'm thinking I would like something small enough but not necessarily a binder (although letter size) but yet ideally would have a way to add 3 ring punched pages. May be something w/ pocket pages would work if it's a spiral bound planner.

How about the Family Centered Press Catholic planner? I love this planner and use mine all the time. My daughter was looking over mine just this past week and we were tossing around the idea of getting one for her.
There are several options, one of which includes a planner that comes 3 hole punched. Michele also offers one with a lesson plan appendix. Seems like it's made for exactly what you're looking for!
Of course, you could always make her a planner from the free printables at Donna Young or my favorite, the ever-charming printables from Small Meadow Press!

Each week, I write assignments in a marble copy-book. If there are other events/activities that I know of, I write those in after the school assignments. Anything else that my children want to be reminded of or keep track of, they write in the notebook themselves (like which days they went to karate this week, or when a play rehearsal is, or that they need to call a friend on a certain day). Other things that are further in the future, they note on a calendar and then transfer to the copy-book at the beginning of the week. Some of these same things are also on my calendar, especially if I'm involved in providing transportation, but for the most part it's not my *stuff* to keep track of. Not a very elegant system, but it works for us.

Wow!! Some organized kids! My 13 year old ds needs me to hold his hand and lead him through his day. I'm working on it 
I just got him a Day Runner at Staples. He is motivated right now to keep up on stuff, I am hoping it works.

I used a doctor's appointment book, one week per two page spread. The days are across the top of the page, each column runs from 7am to 8pm divided by hours with 15 minute marks inside each block of time.
I loved it, I used colored pens, blocked out times for all organized activities, then used small post-its for "to do's" that could be done whenever, marking it on the calendar after it is done.
It worked for us.
The down side was that unlike a catholic planner it did not list Holy Days, Saints, etc. But I have yet to find a Catholic planner that works for me--which makes me sad as I would LOVE my calendar to come with all the Saints days and Holy Days listed.
Too bad none of the Catholic companies can do a checklist ordering form and then print out a calendar with the things you want-in my case I try to keep track of Carmelite Saints in addition to the usual.
Planning has always been an issue at our house!

I like Dove's idea, too! But I'm not that organized to be able to plan hour by hour. We just use the planners by Pflaum They are not perfect, but work best for us right now.

I had one printed at Staples in their business services. It was $10, I was able to create a cover page, and add a couple photos within the book. It didn't have the option to add any special days, but it wouldn't be hard to copy dates in.
They were done as school agendas in an 8x11 format.
Next year, I'm using This Old School House planner. They are pdf editable files. I just renamed for each child so I can save their forms :) Then I print only what is needed.

I have used a timetable as such that I print out every week.
It has the subjects, any events the liturgical colours, saints and any activities written on it.
dd and my other children- no longer homeschooling, have slways used this. It has developed over the years, from handwritten toexcel spreadsheet to landscaped word- this is very effective.
I tried adding to google docs, but it won't do it.

I have finally worked it out, Putting my document on google docs. Now to put it up on here. google docs
This is a very brief one, but each day is set out and We follow the liturgical yr.
Any jobs she needs to do extra are placed at the bottom.
Any instructions for each subject are written on a word doc, and printed out next to the timetable for her reference.
My computer crashed a couple of weeks ago so those docs are lost now.
