Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I'm very curious as to how the rest of you store seasonal books (and movies), like Advent, Christmas, Thanksgiving, Easter, etc.

I've always kept them in a tub with the seasonal decorations, and pull them out at the appropriate time. My husband thinks I should keep them with all the other books on our bookshelves. His reasons are the books can be expensive and we should enjoy them year-round. My reasons are the enjoyment we get every year when opening the tub and re-discovering a favorite book.

Paula,
I used to pack them up with decorations and put them in the attic. Then I started to notice that the temp change wasn't good for the hardcovers. So this year I organized the bookshelves and dedicated a space for "holiday" books.
Its in a out of the way spot, but I could get to them one of the kids wanted one "out of season"

Paula, if you are going to put your out-of-season books in storage, they need to be properly packed up or they will suffer damage over time. Self-storage tips for books gives lots of specific details for longer-term storage. How to Store Books is a shorter article on how to pack and store books at home for shorter term storage. HTH!

DITTO, Jen!!!

I tried storing them Paula, but only did so for one year. I didn't store them long enough for damage to take place, but I missed them, and I didn't like not having access to them.

So, I set up space on a very high shelf, or an out of the way shelf for all my seasonal books. I keep them together and organized by season. I know where they are and can get to them if I need them. Anyway, I very much like the out of the way, but still in the house storage. How about a very high shelf, or the top of those amazing bookshelves in your school room...or even somewhere else in the house. They don't necessarily need to be taking up shelf space in your school room, just somewhere in your house. Anyway, that gets my vote too and it works well for me.

Therein lies the problem.

Those amazing bookshelves are STUFFED. Seriously. If I want to put all the seasonal books/movies on them, I have to get rid of other books.

Do you know how hard that will be??

I've done it both ways. I find what works well is to have particular books that are only out for the season (and our decorations and such are stored in my bedroom closet, so no climate issue) and to have most of the books placed on a "Liturgical Season" shelf - on which are books for all the liturgical seasons. This way, we get the best of both: the enjoyment of "surprise" at the start of each new season as well as the enjoyment of good literature about the entire year throughout the year.

I pack mine away with the seasonal decor. I love finding the treasures that I forgot I had

There is just no room to keep everything out

For Christmas books....I put them on shelves, up high...they are in a corner closet that is hard to get to, that I wouldn't use for anything that I needed access to more than once a year.

I don't like them out/accessed for the whole year.

The other holidays and seasonal/nature stuff is also on shelves, but a bit easier access, but not in a place where the kids go.

Could you fit a different sized tub under a bed?

I don't have a problem with storage space if they are not on the bookshelves. We have a huge storage area "under the stairs" that is about 4 feet high and probably 15 x 30 feet around. It is cool, not damp, and gets plenty of air circulation. I keep all our out-of-season clothes, holiday decorations, canning supplies, etc. down there. I have to bend over to get under there, which is a pain in the back.

I spent the last three hours rearranging the "awesome" bookshelves, putting many books in the "get rid of" pile, and I may just have room for those 92 Christmas books!!

Mine go on the top shelf in one of the children's closets and they're sorted from the beg. of the year to the end so I can just pull which stack I need at the beg. of that season and then put them back.

92 Christmas books?! WOW!!!
