It's a virtual chemistry lab. Pour, mix and heat chemicals and expect to see the same results you would in real life in a lab.

This app is helpful in a couple of ways:

1) To see what to expect in your upcoming real life chem lab. (If you/your child are uncertain or hesitant about a chemistry exercise, follow the instructions using the Chemist app for a sort of "dry run")

2) To effect a chemical reaction that would be too dangerous to duplicate in a home lab experiment. My kids liked creating explosions. Of course!

It's best when done alongside a lab, but not necessary. Often, one of my kids would watch a Khan video, or a U of Nottingham periodic table of elements video, and then open up the Chemist app to duplicate something.
