My dd, who is very mathy, has always thought of herself as weak at 'English'. She has always had tremendous comprehension, but was a late reader and doesn't often write. But this week she finished a superb literary analysis essay and a short story (they had both been in the works a few weeks). Boy, that girl can WRITE!!! 
They were both so deep and thoughtful. And the diction and imagery were fantastic. Makes my mother's heart glad! All these years of anxiety for nothing!
