Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Do you mean world religions? We do this when we cover different countries, starting in grade 6.

Yes, I suppose that's what I mean. We haven't done any of that. Did you use a particular source or different sources?

I like to use the following:

Gods, Beliefs & Ceremonies, ages 8 and up with crafts to do

Great Religions of the World, this is more for adults, but it has lots of pictures (photos), which I like to look at with my children.

Whenever we study an ancient culture or foreign land, we try to also include the religions there. So when studying India, we learn about the myths and then go on to Buddhism and Hinduism. Most libraries have very nice children's books on those religions, for example a book by Demi on Buddha. When you study the times of Jesus or the Old Testament times, it's easy to also add some studies on Judaism. You could also read the children's book All-of-a-Kind Family, a delightful book about a Jewish family in New York City. All major holidays are celebrated by this family in the book. You could simply read the book, find some more library books on those festivals, and get a feel for what Jesus must have celebrated. When we study the old German tribes we also learn about the religion of the Vikings. You can even watch an opera by Wagner to understand those more. I haven't done any comparison type work between Christianity and other religions per se. Of course they arise simply by studying other religions, but I haven"t discussed them so far. That would be more a high school subject. I would do that in connection with philosophy in grade 12. I haven't found any book for such an endeavor so far because my oldest is only in grade 10, but I do have plans for philosophy for most high school years. Having a Lutheran husband and protestant mother, it's also important for us to study those differences, but that is our family choice.

Another helpful choice are the Maryknoll Magazines. There are some study guides you can get for free for each magazine for all grades. This little magazine is a great source to show how Catholic missionaries deal with other religions in their work and in our times.
