Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Okay can you tell from this thread that I'm in a bit of upper level math turmoil.

I was reminded of the Thinkwell courses from a friend and got to thinking about them for my PreCal and Algebra 1 guys this upcoming year. I like the grading along with the explanation of the problems.

We have been doing A Beka online Algebra 2 which although has good content, has no explanation of the problems' solutions. There is a teacher key, that does show work, but if you need more explaining...ie a teacher to just verbally go through it, I am not always confident doing that.

So...anyone use the Thinkwell upper level Math courses? Like them? Are they quick and to the point? Clear? Decent amount of exercises given to practice the concepts?

THANKS ladies for any help!

Hi Kacky,

DD did Thinkwell Pre-Calculus and never had a problem with it. She did it independently - the only thing I know is that lessons could be very long or very short - she tended to do Math for about an hour to 1.5 hours a day - some days this would be several lessons and other days just one. She did it all online - no paper manuals.

Have you considered ALEKS - I REALLY like what I have seen so far. But it may be better as a review and supplement rather than a main program.

Kacky.

More thoughts from DD - she does not think that Thinkwell gives enough problems for mastery. She thinks it is easy to advance without really understanding the concepts. She does not recommend it for her brothers as a stand alone program.

She used ALEKS to fill in gaps and achieve mastery.
