Thanks for the ideas ladies. Jen, this seems like quite a lot, how many hours do you anticipate your 11 grader spending on this course work?

My 11th grader spends an average of 4 - 6 hours each day on her work.
These are the Term 1 lesson plans:

Bumping this thread for a quick LA question. My 11th grader has finished 2 years of Jensens writing/speech com, Fix It Grammar from IEW and research writing with a tutor. This year he is doing modern American Literature, Vocabulary for the College BOund and written narrations/essays with History and other subjects. Is that enough for LA? That is always the tough one for me when planning high school...is it enough? This junior year just seems like a lot with preping for PSAT/ACT as well as taking their other course work? Can someone way in here:)

I think that's plenty of LA, especially if you take time to carefully correct and discuss the compositions written in the other subjects. Just writing isn't enough--your student needs lots of feedback and direct instruction to improve his writing style, word choice, and the flow and structure of the composition.
You might consider including some timed essay composition practice to prepare for the SAT writing test.
Sounds like you're doing great, mom!!
