Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Just curious to see who, among the high-school moms here, has someone finishing and moving on this year -- and where it is that they're going (not physically, necessarily, because they might not be leaving home right away, but in terms of life-stage). And what you're doing, if anything, for graduation. I seem to remember a graduation thread from some time back, but it's a subject much on my mind right now!

So, our first daughter graduates in May, after eight years of homeschooling. We're having a graduation Mass in our parish with two other families, followed by a cookout and swing dance, which is what the kids want. She'll be going to the University of Dallas next year.

Anyone else?

How exciting, Sally! Congratualations and be blessed by UofDallas. We graduated our first last year and had a blast.

You reminded me of our long running topic on graduates. Hope all of you with graduates will add your info and I'll update the OP .

Love,

I have a graduating dd this year. I don't have anything planned yet, probably dinner out with family. That's what we did with my older dd 2yrs ago for her graduation. We have a homeshool corp in our city that plans a graduation and all the usual Senior stuff like Grad nite but she didn't want to graduate with kids she didn't know. We are part of an umbrella group that issues a diploma and transcript.

And of course some thing like money or laptop. As far as college, she already is dual enrolled at CC and has about 25 credit hrs. She plans on staying there and going into the nursing program.

The high school years go by so fast!

Congratulations to your daughter, Adele! And I agree: where did my little girl go?

And thanks, Angie.

Here's another question which obviously could apply to any homeschooling mother, but . . . Is it just me, or is senior year a killer? It's been a great year here, but I am wiped out, as never before. And I keep thinking about how peaceful next year will be, with the senior energy out of the house, even though it's nice, wonderful (mostly) senior energy and I love it and will miss it.

But I think: finally, I can really think about the others. Not that they haven't had a good year, too, and to be honest, first grade has probably worn me out just as much. But it seems that everything in our household this year has been about Graduate! Graduate! Apply to college! Get into college! Make college decision! Go! Go! And I keep thinking that it will be nice not to have to think that again for a few more years. Fun though it's been . . .

Anyway, congrats again to anyone making the big leap!

Sally

Our oldest (dd) graduates this year too Where have the years gone? Have I truly equipped her?

Any ideas on how to make her 'graduation' special? She is the only (and first) of our hs group to 'graduate' Two months before will be her 18, and we will go out for dinner so was trying to think of something else as well.

Finding it a challenge to mentally jump between a newborn and a soon to be adult.

Praying for peace and guidance.
