I am thinking that I want to offer my son some good Catholic audiobooks to listen to while doing chores, having breakfast, etc. I'd love some on church history, lives of the saints (I remember hearing one of the life of JPII that was awesome),theological topics, and other topics related to Catholic living.
I'd prefer CD's so that we can all listen to them, but can do mp3 downloads for his iPod if necessary.
So, what are your favorite Catholic audio resources?

One of the big ones I like is the Catholic CD of the Month club - I've been getting them for 6 months now and they are great. The topic might not always be suitable for that age however - but for $5 a month for the CD it's not bad.
I do MP3 downloads of talks mostly myself as they are free. I've burned some of those to CD to listen to as a group before - might that work?

Okay, this is not a "Catholic" book per say, but I have become enthraled with Personal Recollections of Joan of Arc by Mark Twain. I am almost finished listening to it, so I hope there aren't any surprises in the text that I haven't come across yet. With that being said,I have found the writing to be exceptional and the story very captivating. There isn't much "religion" mention but it only seems to enhance what an exceptional Saint Joan of Arc is/was.
I can't recommend it enough!

Betsy, my son just loved that book! He was amazed that Mark Twain made such a stylistic/subject departure...but he really enjoyed it, from start to finish.
As you suggest titles, ladies, could you please note whether you think the audiobooks in question would also be suitable for 8th grade? (I have many car trips in my future...I am a dance mom...)
Thanks, Theresa, for starting this thread. Great idea!

Just found Famous Men of Rome on Librivox! Not quite the Catholic content I was looking for, but it sure ties in with our history well!LOL!

I'm bumping this topic. I too, would like to have some great Catholic audiobooks to listen to. I found a good list of Catholic classics in audiobook format at The Catholic Gift Store. Some descriptions list the reader and the listening time, but some don't. Does anyone have any of these? Are they good audio renditions? Can you recommend any specifically?
Thanks!
