Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

We are going to work on college application essays and asking for letters of recommendations this summer. I am not sure how to make the timing work out. Maybe someone who has done this can help me?

We wanted to ask for letters this summer because I think it will be much easier to get them when the people will be slightly less busy. But I don't know that our applications will be done by the end of summer. Do the colleges just start a file on someone as soon as they begin receiving stuff?

Or do we have the letters come to us then we send them in when we are ready with the applications.

Clear as mud?

The letters go to the schools directly, I think.

He will be this coming school year, yes! He wants a small liberal arts school. Christendom, TAC, Belmont...it mostly depends on who will help the most. His grades are pretty good in a rigourous classical curriculum, but we'll see when the SAT scores come back...

Chari, I've been meaning to tell you our good friend's daughter will be at TAC this fall. (She'll be the very bright, cute, petite blond.)

How exciting, Bridget!

Do double-check and make sure that you need recommendations first. Devin didn't need them. What she did need to do was to fill out the application online which opened her file. From there she followed a checklist, and items were added to her open file, as they were received, until it was completed. There were online prompts letting here know the status of her application, yet she followed up via phone to ensure receipt of items. She started this process last August for early admissions in November - which she received and will start this August.

Praying for fabulous SAT scores    .

Love,

I have learned that many schools have a form or cover letter that accompanies the letter of recommendation.

I have been gathering information, after we get through my husbands surgery and various other things in the next few weeks, then it is 'buckle down time' on college app. work. It's kind of a full time job by itself, at least for a time.
