Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Hello,
I am not a "true" full time homeschooler due to circumstances beyond my control. My children go to a wonderful Catholic elementary and middle school. However, my 8th grader will be attending a public high school next year and I am looking to continue her faith education. I have previously used some materials to supplement at home, but am looking for a solid curriculum for next year. I am looking for something straightforward and solid.   I skimmed thru a friends curriculum several weeks ago. She was not happy with the program and after reviewing it I could understand why. It was very juvenile and for lack of a better word "fluffy", somewhat "dumbed down."   I would love to hear some opinions on the different curriculum that is out there (pro's -con's).
Thank you so very much in advance. I visit this forum often and even though I am not officially a full fledged homeschooler, I have utilized much of your information and ideas.
peace
Ida

Hi Ida,

We have used the Didache series with great success. The books are neither fluffy nor dumbed-down. I noticed, too, that the publishers are coming out with semester-length books as well as continuing to publish the year-long books.

Ida

I second the Didache Series rec. Very meaty, I'm actually having to read it and discuss it with my ds15. Too much for him to process on his own.

We took 3 semesters to cover the Church history text with our high school co-op - and I still feel as though we didn't do it complete justice.

Sounds like you're on board already, but I would third the Didache series. My now-almost-a-senior has LOVED these books and found them very substantial and challenging.
