Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

From the Teaching Company...

Has anyone used the Chemistry lectures? My dd is an auditory learner and dyslexic and I thought these might be good for her. (I think Karen E. said she was using them on her blog...) What did you think of them? What sort of accent does the instructor have (my kids are used to our 'Canadian accent" and have a hard time with some of the unfamiliar accents in large doses!)?

Thanks!
(they are on sale right now)

I bought Chemistry lectures for my daughter.

I can check to see which ones and if she thought she benefitted from them and what type of accent.

Kristie, I checked in with my daughter.

She didn't find the teacher's accent distracting. (People will answer this question with subjective answers. ) She said he was a good teacher and very funny.

She said the Teaching Company lessons went very well with the Prentice Hall text book she's using. Her take is that the TC DVDs were more math oriented than concept based.

She's used many of the TC lecture series for ancient Greece and Rome and completed them all. In her life, it is easier to incorporate lectures on her iPod rather than the TV screen. So, she said she hasn't used the DVD series as much as she could have.

Dear Kristie,
Our two boys are using these now and they are loving them! I am so glad we did this instead of Apologia ( please no tomato throwing). It is a refreshing way to learn chemistry and the teacher is very funny.
