Have any of you who own this ever actually been able to really use it enough to make it worth the purchase? I will soon have not one, but two high schoolers, and keep giong back and forth about HSOYD. I have borrowed it before to look at it, but cannot decide if it is worth the purchase. I am about to place a large order with CHC for some things for my younger dc, and so I am once again revisiting this topic!

I like having it at my finger tips, and my dd's finger tips. I like to be able to say to her, "Look for options here." Considering how expensive curriculum and books for advanced level courses are, I feel that this book is very reasonably priced. Like all things, the purchase will depend on the individual family's budget.

Ditto what Angie says. Having all those resources and text choices laid out for me is really priceless. It's a high-school version, in a way, of Maureen Wittman's For the Love of Literature -- yes, I could compile booklists for every subject under the sun, with tons of choices, but it would take me years, and my kids would all be out of the house before I had everything organized. I'm using Maureen's book alongside Mater Amabilis as my curriculum guide for K-8; I use HSOYD much the same way for high school, especially given that I have a child who likes making her own plans. I can give her the book and say, "Here, invent biology."

So yes, for me it's been a very good fit and therefore worth the price.

Tea, I just flipped through a copy at our HS conference. I think *I* need more day-to-day direction for my highschooler, but this might be a fun supplement, *if* there's time. As it would be a supplement, I have to hold off on making the purchase until I know whether my highschooler is bored or overwhelmed with what he'll have to do.
