Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone used Hewitt's Lightning Literature for high school? And has anyone used their grading services? I don't need a grade per se, but another person to help me grade this coming year. Schooling 5 and little ones had me snowed in this year and I'm looking for some practical help. I want prompt returned papers with suggestions and comments. I will enroll one child with Kolbe for their grading, but not the high schooler this year, but I need options. Thanks!
Blessings,
Stephanie

I like Lightning Literature alot. We studied Longfellow and learned about rhyme, meter and scansion from their posted samples at their website. I will probably order it next year. I have a friend who also uses it and likes it alot. She doesn't use the grading services however so I know nothing about that.

Is Lightning Lit just for high schoolers? Here's an interesting Across America for the primary grades that looks interesting ... I'll post on history to see if anyone's used that one.

Thanks for the headsup on Lightning Lit ... I'll need to keep that one in my back pocket

Lighting Lit starts in 7th grade. The more I look at it, the more it might be just the thing for the 10th grader next year. We will try the grading service. They have a section that a child reads "Orthodoxy" by Chesterton and several other interesting books and I think we'll try the Shakespeare or American lit for the 2nd semester.
I was hoping somebody might have used the email grading service so that I would know if it was worth the extra money. The one downside is that rewrites aren't accepted. But with comments, my son could do the rewrite for me.
Blessings,
Stephanie

Just resurrecting this thread...

Has any one used Hewitt's Literature courses over the past two years and also used the grading service?

I'm really interested to hand over this sort of thing to well, anyone but me !! I'm a maths/science person - Literature has never really been my thing, although I do love reading and writing.

We are registered with Kolbe so could sign up for EES but I'm not sure I want to follow their Lit schedule for 9-12th.

Any comments or suggestions would be very welcome!!

Thanks,

Emily.
