I didn't see a thread on this. CHC has treasure hunt idea. Our parish is planning a procession. Any other ideas? Food?

We're thinking of going to your parish this Sunday, actuallly, as we have no procession.
For Sunday being Father's Day, there are little ideas except for what Dad wants. 
Last year there was an excellent thread The Feast of Corpus Christi

There are no really traditional foods for this feast...probably two reasons: 1) the "Food" is actually the Body and Blood of Christ and 2) it's a "newer" feast, so no long-standing traditions about it. Stef posted the ENSALADA DE CORPUS CHRISTI - (Corpus Christi Salad) last year.
In the older thread I mentioned the Sawdust Carpets that are done on the feast of Corpus Christi in various places. There are also FLOWER carpets done in various places.

Penelope Casas in her book Discovering Spain mentions several cities that have the flower carpets and festivals. I don't have foods for those festivals...but if you feel like a Spanish flavor, some tapas or paella would always be acceptable.  Just invite me over, too.
In Italy these flower carpet festivals are celebrated in various places, such as Spello in Umbria, Genzano in Latium, Assisi in Umbria, Bolsena in Latium, Brinidisi in Puglia, Campobasso in Molise they celebrate flower petals being made into carpets, Infiortate. I have this wonderful book called Celebrating Italy by Carol Field. She explains that "it is an old tradition that Italians eat flowers -- many menus feature zucchini flowers dipped in batter and fried...but no such dish is served at the celebration of the Infiorata."
The foods she lists are the dishes that the victory dinners of the flower carpet competetion, and they are usually dishes that celebrate the traditional tastes of Spello: bruschetta, slices of country bread rubbed with garlic and glistening with green extra-virgin olive oil; field musrhooms wrapped in tangles of spaghetti; slices of home-cured prosciutto; squab roasted on the spit; and a mixture of grilled meats.

Risotta ai Funghi Porcini (Wild Mushroom Risotto)
Spaghetti con i Turini (Spaghetti with Field Mushrooms)
Rocciata (Fruit and Nut-Filled Strudel)
One other book I have Italian Festival Food by Anne Bianchi has a recipe from Campobasso's Corpus Christi festival, Spiedini Di Cozze (Pancetta-wrapped Mussels Grilled on Skewers) and from Brindisi Orecchiette Strascinate (Homemade Orecchiette with Sundried Tomato Sauce).
I'd be happy to provide recipes if you wish...just giving a few ideas. I love looking at the older established religious festivals in other countries for ideas.

Hmmm...I lived in Brindisi for 3 years and never saw an infiorata celebration...all the little towns had a procession through the town with a flower-covered platform holding the Precious Body and Blood. Some towns had flower garlands strung over the streets (between 2nd floor apartment windows).
Orrecchiete dishes are definitely Brindisi's signature pasta selections. One of our favorites includes rapini (broccoli rabe), garlic, anchovies, olive oil and parmigiano cheese.
Now I am hungry.

Interesting. The book was printed in 1999. Just goes to show you that you can't really experience or know what goes on just by books. It helps to witness or know a real-life eye witness.
I was thinking this week how I would love to travel Europe and take in the religious festivals for myself. But then I was bemoaning the fact that I don't have a good grasp of other languages. I need to be able to speak and read other languages to really put these festivals in words. Ah well...it's probably not my calling!

We have a procession to the garden behind our church where there are 3 altars set up and the Blessed Sacrament is venerated at each. This occurs after Mass.
This year ds7 will be way up in the procession since he & 2 others are receiving their FC. 
Ours is on a Thurs, according to the Tridentine Missal(we had hoped Fr. could move it to Sunday, since there was an indult to do so by Pope Leo prior to '62), but it didn't work out. I am rather worried about the heat since its is supposed to be hot and the church has no AC.
It will still be lovely.

Polish Tradition of Corpus Christi
I know I'm obsessing here...but I'm hoping MaryM will figure out some links on HOW to make a little flower carpet. I just can't seem to find a DYI on it, and am more than a little curious.
