Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

There are some threads on this curriculum:
RC History Question and a little more
RC History Volume 2
It's also mentioned here and there in other history threads, just do a search for "RC History"!

I'd be happy to field more specific questions, as we've worked through all the units that are currently available. I like the approach so much that I went ahead and developed my own multi-level list (mostly just reading) for Medieval/Renaissance, based more or less on Sonya Romen's
Middle Ages Reading List and some other reading lists used by several different history programs.

Thanks so much!
I did do a search and didn't turn up the threads, I'm not sure why! Maybe I had selected the wrong forum in the search or something, I've done that before. :)

Melanie, I'm going to use Vol. I loosely this year (with some additions and subtractions)

I think Erin and Valerie (vmallot) have used it... and ~Jessica~ is using it this year.

~Jessica~ recently did a post about it her blog Shower of Roses.

After perusing Vol. I, I would say that while it has book selection for younger kids, looking at the volume, I would say it's more appropriate for 8 and up.

We're reading the OT this year with my kids, so I'm going to use some of the book selections for the younger kids plus use My First Timeline (which they also sell) and just go along as fits our needs/interests, etc.

In addition to the Old Testament as a spine, I'm also thinking about using Gombrich's CD's (also comes in book form) of A Little History of the World... as a spine. Then to tie in art history, we'll look at the pictures from the Story of Art by Gombrich (which is a great read, believe it or not) so we can see art from various time periods as we study.

So I don't have real experience, I'm just sharing some observations and thoughts. I'm sure people who have used RCHistory will have more to say.

(I'm sorry that I didn't put links... if I have time later I'll insert them.)

I've used it, Melanie. They didn't have vol. 2 ready yet (when I was ready 3 years ago), but after using vol 1, I did like Valerie and used the ideas and organizational method from RC History to set up my own plan for studying the Middle Ages and then last year American history.

I don't follow anything exactly as it is written, so I tweak here and there, but all in all it's a good program, imo.

Let us know if you have any specific questions...
