Folks:
The head librarian at our public library asked me yesterday for suggestions of good homeschooling magazines that the library should get -- what would you recommend?
Any advice is greatly appreciated!

I second the Heart and Mind recommendation.

My favorite is Heart and Mind also. Another that I would recommend is Home Education. They have very good coverage of the national press and political scene.
God bless,

Does it have to be homeschooling magazines? I really enjoy getting Mailbox, Teacher's Helper and Bookbag out of our library for tips and ideas. Just my ramblings...

If she is interested in something Catholic, Faith & Family is a very good magazine, although it is not specifically a homeschooling mag. How wonderful that the librarian asked you!

How timely to read this. Just this past week while on vacation I found a magazine at Barnes & Noble that I'd not seen before. It's called The Old Schoolhouse. It comes out quarterly and is a pretty thick magazine. It's definitely slanted toward the evangelical protestants but I still enjoyed reading it. Has anyone else seen it?

I have seen it and it is a nice magazine my only concern is that it is published by Bob Jones University Press and I hate the idea of giving them money considering their history of anti-catholism. I could be behind the times though so let me know if I am wrong.

I don't see anything in it saying BJU publishes it, although they certainly advertise heavily in it. I agree, I would not want to support BJU. It seems to be mainly the Suarez family, in CA, but their site says they are supported mainly by advertising (which includes BJU of course!)
As I said there is definitely an evangelical slant to it, but there were some good general hs articles in this particular issue. I wasn't planning to subscribe, but just wondered if anyone else had seen it, as I never had before.
