Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I've been thinking about how influentual the contributors on this board and CCM have been on my home ed. (and life but that is another thread!) Yet, I'm often delayed in implementing much of what I gain from here so miss the opportunity to jump on board and/or thank everyone quickly for their help. For example

Ds received a 10 gallon fish tank for Christmas and we now have three fish additions to our family (more to come later.)

I have heard and read about Swallows and Amazons for what seems like forever. We're finally reading it and having a ball...even made some brown bread in the crockpot - yum!

We continue to bird watch and are currently keeping track of our sitings in a simple way.   I often wonder if I ever would have started birding if it wasn't for the early hand-holding I received from MacBeth and other patient birders.

We almost have all 50 states memorized in order and will add the state capitals via Yakko's World.

How about all the Latin talk over the years...and this whine when you all reminded me that Latin was still a possibility for my teen? Well, dd is now in her second semester of Latin I with a home ed. class. She is holding a B in a rigorous course and is the only one among her peers who has no previous Latin experience...not bad!

Oh...I could go on and on...suffice it to say that I am very grateful for your influence and your patience when I don't get back to you right away with updates. Know that I'm reading and soaking it all in...

Love,

Angie, I'm right there with you! On another thread I had carried on about how much I missed this group of people. In the midst of all of the babies being born at our house, many from CCM had migrated over here. I suddenly realized a few months ago that the uplifting, enlightening conversation of that list was missing from my inbox!

The influence for us is also with nature study as well as living books. We have just under an acre in an established neighborhood that was once part of or adjacent to a state park. We have quite a bit of wild life right in our backyard. We are (oddly, to this mom) investigating some scat in the backyard. I think that it is either from possums or racoons, but we'll figure it out soon. It could be the owls, too. Hard to say right this minute but the fact that I want to entertain finding out is thanks to this group.

Many blessings,

Aw, Angie! I do so love to share the fun of Real Learning.    One of these days we are gong to stop by with binoculars and check out all the SW birds with which we are not familiar!
