Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

I need to share a quick testimony with y'all about Elizabeth's book. I know may of you have it already, but if you don't, really you just must order it!

My dear childhood friend and her family came to visit with us last week before Thanksgiving. She is HS this year for the first time as well.

We have been friends for 20 years and have been through lots. The most difficult time was when I came back to the Catholic faith and when my husband converted. She was very hurt personally because we had been sharing a similar kind of baptist/non-denominational faith. She doesn't really know much about the Catholic faith and has some misconceptions about our faith.

For the past three years though, our friendship has weathered well and she has slowly begun to think we are 'saved' even though we are Catholic,

We discuss our faith mostly in the terms of what we hold in common and she has become less defensive when the topics stray towards what beliefs we do not hold in common.

While she was here we gabbed a lot about HS, what has been working what hasn't etc...I just had to share the book 'Real Learning' with her. Honestly, finding Catholic Mosaic and then Real Learning has given so much joy and life to our HS, I had to hold myself back from beingtooexcited, lest I seem pushy. I knew 'Real Learning' would speak to her heart and I first shared with her a chapter at the end where Elizabeth describes her oldest son helping take care of her sick infant. She was moved to tears and then the next day she asked if she could borrow the book.

I sadly admit I was a bit hesitant. I love that book! Anyway, I said "Of course!" and it is now in Florida where it will be living permanently. You see, last night she called to tell me how much she loves it and how it is clarifying many ideas and thoughts she has had about her HS. It is touching her heart and mind and she is underlining all over it! I told her not to worry, I was ordering another for myself so she should just keep it.

This precious book is a small bridge between my Catholic self and my Protestant best friend. I hope it is just one of many more to come and I am so thankful I had it on hand to share with her.

So I urge you, if you still haven't gotten a copy of this book, go order it now! Get two! I have found some awesome and in-depth real learning type of stuff on this forum, on webpages and on blogs, but it is much more special to share a book than an internet address.

God bless you, Elizabeth, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for writing 'Real Learning'.

Tracy,
This is such a beautiful testimony. I had to chime in and say that this book has been instrumental in leading ME to the Catholic faith.

blessings,
Martha

Fabulous Tracy! I'm just going to add to be sure to have a sharing copy that Elizabeth hasn't signed personally to you.

I missed mine while it was gone and couldn't let go of it emotionally because of her kind words in the front. It'll be on it's way home soon, and I'm so happy! It has made me a much better homeschooler and I've missed looking into it for inspiration.

Thank you for sharing!

You know what Tracy, I really think God used you to answer a prayer of mine today. I find myself with a very sick baby again. And I'm watching two big boys sharing rocking, holding and medicating duties with me and feeling more than a little sad because we're not doing ANYTHING on all those beautiful blogs. I needed to be reminded that God has a purpose for my life and it might not be the best laid plans of anyone else. I'm so glad to have been able to bless you and your friend. And I'm so grateful you took the time to write today.

Elizabeth... your writing has gifted MANY people.
I have been telling several friends about your book recently... after they rediscovered my link to your blog
You really speak well about the 'lifestyle' we choose to use for our homeschooling!
I love your book, and am planning on lending it to a friend if she has not yet bought her own

Hear hear to all of the above!

I shamelessly plug the book to anyone who will listen. It's a treasure trove.

Elizabeth...I have just become a member of this forum because of your book. Last year I had just started homeschooling and was struggling with all of it. Then I found your book at the library. I renewed it three times! I kept finding more and more great ideas in it. As a single parent, money is tight, so when I finally could buy it, I did. I have had it for 6 months now, and it is completely highlighted in a myriad of colors!

Thank you for writing the book.

Thank you for sharing this, Tracy. During the Christmas break, I'm going to find mine, and re-read it (or finish the parts I have yet to read). And I'm going to get my Literature Alive book and my Catholic Mosaic and read those as well.

Then I'll spend some more time here, and on all of the wonderful blogs of you wonderful ladies, and immerse myself in the loveliness and joy of homeschooling.

I do hope we will get to meet your friend here at this wonderful place some day. It would be a blessing.
