Have any of you used or heard about TRISMS?
Any comments would be greatly appreciated! This would be something I might consider for my 6th grader sometime in the near future...

Jennifer,
We're using Trisms *Discovering the Ancient World* with our 9th grader this year. We've used *History Makers* in the past with our two boys.
I LOVE Trisms! I think it's wonderful, and allows us to keep our homeschool philosophy while having our children delve more deeply in research/literature based learning.
Here are some reviews that may help you:

I was all set to follow the same plan for our second high schooler son as his older brother, but wasn't feeling *comfortable* with that decision, because he's a VERY different learner, and different young man. He's so much more of an analytical, deep thinker. He certainly could read textbooks and material, and spit back information to me. But I don't think that's what's best for him. I think given his deep thought process, and ability to really think through everything, I felt something that he could be more involved in the finding of the information would be better for him. Trisms is the BEST for that!
I wasn't even thinking of Trisms, and at the beginning of August, was STILL not sure what we'd use for his 9th grade year. But my friend emailed me, asking me for some curriculum choice help, and I sent her to Trisms (because it's what the Lord brought to my mind for her situation now), and I started looking more at it again. We'd used it a couple of years back.
The more I kept reading about the high school level, and the curriculum again, the more excited and happy I got, and the more I prayed, the more I realized this was NO accident, and this was where the Lord was leading me through discernment for Zach! So I ordered Discovering the Ancient World, and we'll start on Monday the 29th!!! He loves notebooking, so this will be GREAT for him as he makes his course book!
I hope this helps!
Tracy

Jennifer,
I forgot! I wanted to mention a great yahoogroups email list for Trisms users, or those looking into Trisms, so you can ask questions, etc. The people there are great! It's at:
Trisms yahoo list
I hope this helps.

Tracy,
Thanks so much. Your links look great! I have a friend who is interested in TRISMS for her daughters, as well, and now I can pass on some good news to her, as well!
