My dh has surprised me!
I have all my curriculum "musts" for the year.
So what would you buy for the sheer joy of the spurge from amazon or feel no catholic homeschooler should be without?

Something to enrich YOU. Maybe a subscription to a magazine, or a book you've always wanted to read (classic literature, history, etc. are always favorites around here). Perhaps there's an adult-level book that would help you really teach a particular topic well?
I love saints. If I had $50 I would buy saint bios or something similar. I'm still hoping to read the new bio of Father McGivney, Parish Priest, Amazon link, so that's what I'd buy first.
If you haven't read much about saints, pick a time period or country and zero in on a couple of saints...learning about them at an adult level is truly inspiring. So many saints began as ordinary folks, but reached out a hand when God reached down to them. The adversities we face are known to the saints; that's how we know they'll truly intercede for us.
Happy shopping!!!

On a field trip this afternoon to a nice creek with lots of crayfish, I was just mentioning to the other moms that what I wanted to get was more outdoor nature gear, like this aquatic net
Another thing I'd like for nature study:
Spotting scope

I think I'd get some music to go along with our studies. Perhaps a classical selection or music from around the world. Maybe one of the rosary CD's or sacred music. Amazon sells all that stuff, too!

I'd probably get a membership to a museum; art, natural history, children's. $50 might not cover a family membership completely, but a nice beginning. Enjoy!
