Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Has anyone seen this new 12 dvd set from Simply Charlotte Mason?

It covers all aspects of a CM education, from just starting through high school.

I do not own any CM dvds- I have only borrowed them and/or watched on You tube. I think the set looks very promising.

Any thoughts?

I'm pretty disgusted with myself for spending the money on them, but I'm can't wait to get them! I pray that they are helpful and I learn new things. I had all the old ones and sold them last year. I kept the notebooks so I had my notes to refer back too. I think they will be new and offer something different, but if not, I just wasted a lot of money.

I just closed my eyes at the price and ordered them, too. Actually I had already planned on ordering either the Books and Things CD set or the other one, but then I saw that the 12 DVD set was "coming" so I decided to wait and see what it would be. It's a good thing I did, because I guess it replaces the other, smaller CD sets. (I do *think* they're new, though, Cassie. It sounded like they were anyway.) Also, I was really happy to see a section on Charlotte Mason in high school!

I'll report back when I get them and have watched at least a few of them... you, too, Cassie? I'd love to know what other moms think!

I got mine yesterday! I was able to watch the first DVD last night and it was all material from her previous DVDs. I mean the script, not the video as it was a new recording. I've seen all her other DVDs and I was worried that the material would all be the same. So, I didn't learn anything new with the first DVD (good reminders though!). I have high hopes for the other DVDs as looking at the titles there should be some new stuff for me. The companion book is nice. I like the coil bound which makes it easy to use. The book is small though. The video was nicely done and good quality. Sonya has improved greatly in her presentation skills since her first DVDs.

Let us know if they are worth it. I am so tempted, but I have been doing CM for 3 years and have watched so many of her DVD's and talks. I just don't know if there is enough new information to justify the price! Please let me know!!!!

I have watched 10 of the 12 DVDs now. I'm glad I didn't pay full price for it! If I was completely new to CM perhaps it would be a good investment. But, it is a lot of money and you can get lots of good information elsewhere for free or in much cheaper books. I'm still on the fence about if it's worth it.

I like parts and pieces of each one. I think I liked the high school one the most as I actually learned a few things. But it went over credits and a few other things that I believe was just general information and not CM related. She has two DVDs where you are walked through a morning of lessons as if you are the student. Then there was a third on going over what they learned in that sessions. I didn't get much out of it, but I could see that some could.

I think if it was about half the cost I would have no problem recommending it. Yet, it is a good resource!

It is still what I said in my previous post that the quality is good, organized nicely, and has a companion book for note taking and also more information that wasn't on the DVDs. It's just the price!

Thanks for this review, Cassie.

I wonder if the different dvds will be available for individual purchase?
I would like to see the high school one...
