Oh, Dearest Mother, Sweetest Virgin of Altagracia, our Patroness. You are our Advocate and to you we recommend our needs. You are our Teacher and like disciples we come to learn from the example of your holy life. You are our Mother, and like children, we come to offer you all of the love of our hearts. Receive, dearest Mother, our offerings and listen attentively to our supplications. Amen.

Wondering if anyone is using Trail Guide to Learning Curriculum? DS13 is still struggling some with our current Catholic Heritage Curriculum. While CHC fits my learning style and I like that it's catholic...I've had to make lots of adjustments to make it work with my son who is struggling with reading and writing. He would rather listen to me read the text and workbooks, and dictate the answers. I've had to make lots of substitutions and would really like him to be learning more on his own.

I like that Trail Guide to Learning has lots of hands-on activities and just seems like it would be fun to do. I'm thinking it's a better fit for him. Plus it looks like everything is already planned out, including Middle School supplements.

We'll be finishing our 6 week Fall term next week. Trail Guide uses 6 week terms also.

We're still newbies at this homeschooling stuff. We pulled our son out of school the end of October last year. We cobbled together some things for the first few weeks. then we found CHC. However, DS13 was very resisitent, had major decompression time. We only completed 3 chapters of History and 4 chapters of Science.

While he's an 8th grader, we're using 6th and 7th grade curricula to fit his reading level and trying to catch up with what he's missed from last year.

Any advice?
Thanks,
Deb

Monica,

I don't know if you are still here, but I was wondering if you ever tried Trail Guide to Learning and what you thought of it?

Thanks,

Beth
