Not too long ago, there was a discussion of some out of print books that had a link to a site to access the books online. It wasn't Gutenburg, but I don't remember what it was. The page was primarily red and white.

I am looking for some quite old books for my son that are also out of print, and I thought that I would check the sites that have these books digitized. Does anyone know the name of the site(s)?

It was probably archive.org.

I'm not sure if this is what you were remembering, but it's a great source for oop books that are in the public domain.
