She asked me to suggest "how to homeschool" books to add to their collection.
(They have the old stand-bys, Holt, Gatto, What Your 2nd Grader Needs to Know, etc.)
I will tell her about Charlotte Mason Companion and For the Children's Sake; what else would you recommend?
She is looking for books to appeal to all types: secular and religious, academic and unschooling.

Ha ha, I had no idea Elizabeth Foss had written a homeschooling book. Her blog is one of my few dailies. :)
Most of those others, I haven't heard about! I'm out of touch.

I'll second Laura Berquist's. I pick it up every year, in my prep for the school year, and this year, I am so sad, because I can't find it anywhere! It is one that I keep on my daily go-to hs shelf, too! If I don't find it by week's end, I will be reordering it!
I also like "The Well-Trained Mind." I use that quite a bit, too, along with the CM ones you have mentioned.
What a kind librarian you have! We have some treasures, here, at the library I frequent, too.

I made a quick decision last night to donate my books to her, I've read them over and over and can't see myself needing them in depth again. Besides the library is three doors down from me. :) I gave her :
TWTM
A Charlotte Mason Companion
For the Children's Sake
along with a couple other suggestions of what to buy. I need a couple of unschooling titles too; I can't bring myself to let her know about books with pagan/New Age ideals so it's harder to find appropriate unschooling titles. My librarians are the best!
Everyone loves Laura Berquist's stuff, not sure why I don't have it... then again we can't have everything, right???

A fun book to read is Lisa Whelchel's book, So You're Thinking About Homeschooling (not sure if that's the exact title but close!). A very quick read and somewhat entertaining, too.

How fun! Laura Berquist is my to-go book too, where I have learned to put most of my penciled-in notes (instead of an Emmanuel Books catalog that will end up in recycling).

You ladies are great. If only the library had money to buy ALL these books; if only we could stock the public libraries with such rich Catholic resources! Well, I'm trying little by little.
